How We Refurnish

Our process is designed to make buying refurbished furniture feel as straightforward and reliable as buying new - without hiding what goes into it.

1. We start with furniture worth restoring

Not all furniture should be refurbished.

We receive furniture directly from homes, typically through removal partners when people are moving house. Every piece we accept was recently in use and selected because it has the right foundations: solid construction, repairable joints, and long-term usability.

If a piece isn’t structurally sound or can’t be restored properly, we don’t take it on.

2. We assess every piece individually

Once a piece arrives, it is inspected and usually partly disassembled.

We look closely at:

This assessment determines what work is needed, and whether refurbishment makes sense at all.

3. We repair what matters most

Most furniture doesn’t fail because of its materials, but because of its joints, fixings, and finishes.

Where required, we strengthen joints and replace worn or missing hardware using compatible components from our parts library.

4. We clean thoroughly and responsibly

All furniture is professionally cleaned as part of the refurbishment process.

Depending on the materials, this may include:

We choose cleaning methods that are effective while remaining appropriate for the materials involved, and are safe for our team and good for the planet.

5. We refinish with restraint

Some pieces benefit from refinishing; others don’t.

Where appropriate, we refinish surfaces using high-quality, durable, and sustainable products (for instance, water-based primers and paints) to restore protection and appearance. In other cases, we preserve signs of age when they add character rather than detract from function.

6. We document honestly

Before anything is listed for sale, each piece is:

The item you see online is the exact one you’ll receive.

7. We prepare it for real use

Every refurbished item goes through final checks before leaving the workshop.

We confirm stability, safety, cleanliness and quality of refurbishment.

Furniture is then covered in reusable packaging and delivered either fully assembled or assembled in your home by our team, depending on the piece. After delivery, we collect and reuse the packaging for the next item.

8. You Try It for 31 Days

You have 31 days to try your furniture at home. If it’s not right, you can return it. Every item also comes with a 1-year functional warranty covering structural issues and workmanship related to refurbishment.

Our commitment to sustainability

Sustainability is in our core – we exist to keep furniture out of landfills and in your homes. But we also incorporated several sustainable practices in how we refurnish:

Why this approach matters

The goal of refurbishment isn’t simply to sell the furniture again. It’s about making the furniture last for years after it is sold. Our approach:

We don’t believe refurbished furniture should feel like a gamble. We believe it should feel like a sensible decision.
